PART 2: “Kid! Get out of there!” the announcer shouted so loudly it echoed through the arena.

The rodeo was pure chaos—dust flying, crowds roaring, sunlight burning through the arena like fire. Metal bleachers shook with screaming fans while the giant black bull named Ranger pawed the dirt near the gate. Then everything went wrong.

A small body flew over the railing.

An eight-year-old boy crashed hard into the ring.

The crowd screamed as one.

The camera whipped toward Ranger turning slowly, muscles rolling under black skin, breath blasting from his nose.

“Kid! Get out of there!” the announcer shouted so loudly it echoed through the arena.

But the boy pushed himself up instead. Tiny. Alone. Hands shaking.

He opened his fist.

A faded red bandana hung from his fingers.

“Please… look at me.”

The bull scraped a hoof violently. Dust exploded upward. Music seemed to tighten around the moment.

The boy lifted the bandana higher. Stitched initials were visible in one corner.

“My dad said you’d know this.”

The noise of the crowd died in waves. One section after another falling silent.

Ranger stopped staring at the boy… and stared only at the cloth.

Then the bull began walking toward him.

Slow. Heavy. Terrifying.

People screamed for the child to run.

He stepped forward instead, tears in his eyes.

“If you remember him…”

Ranger charged.
