Chapter 13 - The Trial of the Bloodline

The battle of Blackwood Pass was not fought with teeth and claws alone, but with the clashing of ancient energies.

When the dark tendrils struck, Evelyn didn't retreat. She lunged forward, her white paws striking the frozen earth with a concussive force that sent a shockwave of pure, blinding light radiating outward. Wherever her light touched the dark shadows, they hissed and evaporated into thin air.

Behind her, Nathaniel and Sophie led the unified pack warriors in a disciplined wall of steel and fur, cutting down the rogue insurgents with ruthless, coordinated efficiency. The old divisions between the Blake pack and Frostpeak were gone; they fought as a single, unbreakable organism.

The robed sorcerer snarled in fury, pointing his obsidian staff directly at Evelyn. A bolt of dark, concentrated lightning hissed through the air.

Evelyn didn't dodge. She channeled the full power of her pendant, the milky stone blazing with the intensity of a midday sun. She absorbed the dark bolt head-on, her white fur rippling as she redirected the energy back along the staff with a ferocious, blinding flash.

The sorcerer screamed as his staff shattered into a thousand pieces, the dark runes carved into his skin burning away in a searing burst of blue fire. He collapsed into the snow, utterly defeated.

The remaining rogue insurgents, seeing their leader fall and facing the terrifying, towering presence of the Firstborn standing behind the White Luna, dropped their weapons and fled into the dark badlands.

The pass fell silent.
