Chapter 8 - The Return to the Lowlands

The descent from the Spine of the World took three days.

The northern packs had gathered at the base of the foothills, expecting a triumphant return from Donovan’s raiding party or a captured trophy. Instead, what they saw descending from the upper trails silenced every murmur of dissent across all twelve territories.

At the head of the procession walked the White Luna, her snow-white coat gleaming in the pale winter sun, the pendant at her chest pulsing with a steady, serene light.

Beside her walked Sophie, carrying supplies.

And supporting himself on a wooden staff, his shoulder bandaged but his head held high, walked Nathaniel—the future Alpha of the Blake pack, having chosen his side not out of bloodline duty, but out of absolute loyalty.

Behind them, moving like a phantom shadow among the pine trees, the obsidian guardian of the old world kept pace, ensuring no challenge would ever threaten the balance again.

Harrison Blake stood at the front of the assembled pack leaders, his face pale and lined with exhaustion. As Evelyn approached, the aging Alpha did not wait for a command. He dropped slowly to his knees in the slush.

One by one, the remaining Alphas—stripped of Donovan’s belligerence and humbled by the undeniable majesty of the ancient forces now awake in the North—followed suit.

Evelyn stopped a few paces before Harrison. She towered over him, her golden eyes calm, steady, and infinitely wise.

She didn't speak. She didn't need to. The power of the White Luna was no longer a secret whispered in fear; it was the new foundation upon which every pack in the North would build its future.

Nathaniel stepped up beside her, resting his hand gently near her shoulder. Evelyn turned her head, touching her cold muzzle to his hand in a silent gesture of absolute trust.

The age of division was over. The true reign of the North had begun.
