Chapter 14 - The Eternal Dawn

Dawn broke over the northern peaks, painting the snow in brilliant shades of rose, gold, and diamond white.
The battlefield was quiet, cleared of the dark remnants of Malakor’s syndicate. The northern borders were secure, the twelve packs united under a single, unbreakable council of mutual respect, and the ancient threat that had haunted Evelyn’s family for a generation had been permanently eradicated.
Evelyn stood at the edge of the high cliff overlooking the vast expanse of her restored territory. With a shimmering ripple of light, she shifted back into her human form, adjusting her heavy fur cloak.
Nathaniel walked up beside her, offering her a small piece of dried honey cake—a quiet callback to their childhood by the riverbanks.
"The council delegates are waiting at the lodge," Nathaniel said softly, looking out over the endless horizon. "They want to schedule the official ratification of the new northern charter. They want you to sit at the head of the high table."

Evelyn took the honey cake, a faint, genuine smile touching her lips. She reached up and touched the crescent pendant at her chest. The stone no longer burned with a frantic heat; it pulsed with a steady, peaceful warmth, like a heart beating in absolute harmony with the world.
"Let them wait a little longer," Evelyn said quietly, leaning against his shoulder as the morning sun warmed their faces. "The North isn't going anywhere."
